Carbon projects,
vetted like science.

I'm Jens Bergenheim — a forest scientist and carbon consultant. I help investors and developers across Europe and Latin America de-risk afforestation, reforestation and improved-forest-management projects, from feasibility through MRV, verification and issuance.

§ 01Why independent

A score is not a decision.

Automated MRV is a useful input. It is not a methodology, and it is not a Go/No-Go. That's the part I own.

01

Authored by me, start to finish

Every deliverable is my own work: a forest scientist reading your data and telling you what it means, not an automated score or an offshore template.

Authored end to end
02

Independent assessment

No platform fees, no tied registry, no white-label partners. When I assess a project, the only thing I'm weighing is whether the numbers hold up. Where I hold a commercial interest in a project, I disclose it in writing before scope, and I don't review that project for a third party.

Grounded in science

M.Sc. Forestry Science. FSC Chain-of-Custody Lead Auditor. Field and modelling experience across boreal, temperate and tropical systems. I have defended monitoring data to a verifier in audit and to buyers in due diligence.

§ 02Methodology

A four-phase process, audit-ready from day one.

Every phase has a defined input, a defined output, and a decision gate. You know what you're buying before you buy it.

PHASE 01

Feasibility & site diagnostics

Satellite time-series analysis of land-use history, carbon-methodology eligibility, ecological baseline and non-permanence risk. EUDR-related analysis where relevant to covered commodities. Delivers a defensible Go / Re-scope / No-Go recommendation.

Site eligibility report

§ 03Services

Three ways to work together, plus specialised advisory.

Pick a lane, or tell me the problem and we'll define scope together.

Includes
  • Carbon-methodology eligibility & historical land-use
  • Carbon sequestration & co-benefit potential
  • Methodology & registration risk evaluation
  • Non-permanence & leakage risk profiling
Outcome

A feasibility & strategy report you can take to your board for a clean Go / No-Go.

Recent engagements, anonymised where needed.

Different geographies, same discipline: measure carefully, and write it down so it survives audit.

Client experiences

“He was the accountable MRV lead, embedded in the project and responsible for seeing the work through. […] He also stood behind the project’s data and calculations during investor due diligence and with our auditors.”

“We continue to use many of the protocols and practices he established.”

“He was the accountable MRV lead, embedded in the project and responsible for seeing the work through. He trained and worked directly with the field team, helped translate technical requirements into processes they could actually use, and adapted those processes when the realities on the ground did not match the assumptions made on paper. He also stood behind the project’s data and calculations during investor due diligence and with our auditors.”

“We continue to use many of the protocols and practices he established.”

“Jens supported us refining the verification documentation with specialized information and offered an important back up to our staff during the following audit process, joining us until every finding was closed.”

“Jens supported us refining the verification documentation with specialized information and offered an important back up to our staff during the following audit process, joining us until every finding was closed. After the project had passed third-party verification, he conducted filing our submission on the Verra platform under both VCS and CCB, checking every document against Verra's rules, and our verification pledge is now being reviewed by VERRA. Based on this positive experience, we have engaged Jens to promote sales of our carbon credits, including making our credits eligible for CORSIA, the UN scheme where airlines offset their international emissions.”

M.Sc. Forestry Science · Carbon specialist · FSC Lead Auditor · Founder, Ecosilv

My family has worked the forests of Sweden for generations. That's where I learned to read a stand of trees — long before I learned to read a registry methodology.

After an M.Sc. in Forestry Science and project work across four continents, I kept running into the same problem: the carbon market was being sold as a software category, when what projects actually needed was someone who would read the data carefully and tell the truth about it.

I founded Ecosilv to be that person. Every engagement is my own work, and I stay named on the file through verification rather than handing it over once the PDD is written. Where a project needs capabilities outside my scope, such as community engagement or a large field crew, I say so early and help you scope who does it. If a project will work, I'll show you exactly how. If it won't, I'll tell you before you spend two years finding out.

§ 06Frequently asked

Common questions, direct answers.

Consulting engagements are fee-based. Feasibility is fixed-fee; development and MRV are scoped retainers with clear deliverables and decision gates. I don't tie my advisory fee to whether your project validates or how many credits it issues; that would compromise the independence you're paying for. Commercial mandates, where I hold them, are separate engagements and disclosed up front.
